SEPTEMBER’S PREMIUM BONDS MILLIONAIRES ARE FROM SHROPSHIRE AND BRISTOL

The £1 million Premium Bonds jackpot winners in September 2021 come from Shropshire and Bristol.

The first Bond number drawn winning the first £1 million jackpot prize, 116WA622775, belongs to a man from Shropshire. The winner holds £30,000 in Premium Bonds and bought the winning Bond just under 15 years ago in October 2006, making him the third Premium Bonds millionaire from Shropshire.

The second Bond number drawn was 084FM963618 and belongs to a woman from Bristol, making her the eleventh millionaire from the city. The second jackpot prize winner also holds £30,000 in Premium Bonds, and purchased the winning Bond in October 2003. This win means that only seven other Premium Bonds winners have held their winning Bond for longer than the woman from Bristol before winning the jackpot.

Ian Ackerley, NS&I Chief Executive, said: “We are absolutely delighted for our winners from Shropshire and Bristol. The length of time since the winning Bonds were purchased debunks a common myth that only the newest Premium Bonds win prizes.

“It goes to show that all Premium Bonds holders are in with a chance at winning the top prize, even if their Bonds were not purchased recently. The length of time that our two winners held their Bonds will make their wins all the more special and shows the lasting appeal of Premium Bonds.”

Checking Premium Bonds prizes and receive Premium Bonds prizes faster

Aside from the two jackpot winners, there were over 3.2 million other prizes paid out this month between £25 and £100,000.

Customers can check to see if they have won a prize in September’s draw by using the nsandi.com prize checker, official prize checker app or their Alexa-enabled device from Thursday 2 September 2021. Customers will need their Premium Bonds holder’s number to use the website and their NS&I number or holder’s number to check via the prize checker app.

Customers can also choose to have their prizes paid directly to their bank account or have their wins reinvested into more Premium Bonds, eligible from the very next draw. Almost 9 in 10 prizes are now paid in this way, and this is quicker, easier and more secure than receiving them via cheque.
